I talk with a wise friend for an audience of a few thousand online now and then. She shares cogent and compelling revelations of what may be called a Quantum Realm perspective on the arc of human consicousness on Earth - where we have been and where we are headed. This perspective is occasionally mind-bending and always inspiring: angelic realms, off-planet allies, high sacred science, spiritual implications of geopolitical events, hidden architects of darkness, and powerful agents of Light.
I integrate these visions as best I can into my understanding of life in 2024, striving daily, as we all do, to meet the increasingly bizarre day-to-day challenges while “keeping your frequency high” - the catch-all encouraging phrase one sees so often these days. And we often conclude our programs, my wise friend and I, by coming back to the question of how that can be done on a practical level amidst the thousand distractions, stresses, griefs, and enigmatic riddles of this bewildering time.
I have lived in America’s greatest cities most of my life (Chicago, New York, Los Angeles), and now reside in a remote mountain village of less than two thousand souls (probably half that in winter, when the second homes of the wealthy sit empty). The challenge here - where one has in fact left the world behind - is to not let the world back in as one endeavors to simplify and live a life of joyful service in the home stretch of the incarnation.
And by “the world” I mean the classic mystical connotation of the illusory substitute for divine Reality wherein one is endlessly caught up in a vain quest for passing pleasures and temporary joys, identifying passionately with the body rather than the soul, with the pursuit of material riches rather than inner bliss, clinging doggedly to the hope that this time, just maybe perhaps oh please this one last time, that elusive satisfaction we crave will land in our laps via the better job, the missing soul mate, the larger home, or even by somehow carving out a few hours of volunteer time each week for some worthy cause.
Living as I do in this stark and gorgeous wilderness, one can really only “let the world back in” via the nine inch by eleven inch window into all human knowledge and vain trivia on which I am typing these words. I often think that only 30 years ago, if I were here in this little house at the farthest edge of Crestone, Colorado, looking out on this empty wilderness reserve, with only the Great Sand Dunes between me and mysterious Mount Blanca, here in this house which, like a few hundred others nearby, did not exist in 1994, I should be hard put to it to access the world’s distractions, that I would have only ink on paper (not digital dots on a monitor) to instruct or entertain or distract me. The beauty of Nature beckons powerfully here, and there is a sweet meditation chapel of my own beloved lineage a scant two-minute drive away, and yet I find that “the world” works her seduction still. The former owner of this converted B-and-B made sure to remind visitors of their pathetic Internet addiction by naming the WiFi network “GoOutsideInstead!”
Crestone, Colorado
Aldous Huxley feared that human freedom would not be obliterated by the “boot stomping on a human face, forever” envisaged in George Orwell’s 1984 totalitarian nightmare, but that instead our sovereignty would be buried beneath a tidal wave of trivial pleasures and an incomprehensible mass of disinformation and distractions. Huxley passed, God rest him, on the fatal date of November 22, 1963, so the death of one of our great visionary authors went almost unnoticed amidst the epochal shock of the Kennedy assassination. Sixty years later, he now appears to be one of the most acute prophets of the last hundred years, as his fear is now unignorably playing out wherever we look.
So our chief and must cunning adversary is distraction in all its forms.
Let us assume that you are reading this column because you have an interest in making a difference, in leaving behind some small upliftment or dash of beauty or impact of kindness and compassion before you die, and that you have recognized that a path of spiritual practice of some kind is needed to “keep your frequency high” so that your heart is not terminally cracked nor your empathy seared to ashes by the bleak reality of human folly and suffering and by our reckless devastation of this precious blue dot in the vastness of space.
While I now unavoidably wear the dubious title of “elder” in my spiritual community, I have a visceral dislike of any pretensions to greater wisdom than others. I am still subject to laziness and vulnerable to distraction, and allow my insatiable thirst for intellectual stimulation to devolve into information addiction and hours wasted online. One virtue to which I will certainly lay claim is spiritual doggedness. I will not ever give up, and the Mother of All knows She has her loving hook deeply embedded in this resisting catch and that it is just a matter of time before She hauls me home at last.
So, with what humility I can genuinely muster, here are a few ways of staying attuned to the Divine while being of service which I’ve found helpful, which do not require retiring to an ashram or relocating to the wilderness (though if you feel called to either or both of these options, I say go for it).
Meditation - Sorry, folks - there’s no substitute for it. When I’m regular with it, I have peace of mind, and when I’m not, I don’t. Every initiatory mystery school down the ages, and every inner mystical core of the world’s religions, and these days every dumbed-down bastardization available at your local yoga studio all have, more or less, the same goal: watch the breath, still the mind, slow the heartbeat, and realize that you are not this body, not this restless mind, but that you are a spark of the Pure Awareness which quantum science now teaches us gave rise to the Universe. There are a hundred varieties and approaches which claim the name meditation, but if you are not taught effective scientific methods of watching the breath, stilling the restless mind, and slowing the heartbeat in order to turn your focus on the pure awareness of the soul, then you are wasting your time. Avoiding phony gurus and cults and cheap imitations is important, so use your discretion and discernment. I can safely recommend the Lessons of the great yoga master, Paramahansa Yogananda, through the non-sectarian meditation fellowship he founded in 1925. There is a higher initation by which one may eventually choose this path as a lifelong commitment, but there is a wealth of instruction given freely without commitment, for the nominal cost of printing and postage. These teachings are, in my experience, a world treasure. (And don’t fret or descend into paralyzing guilt over imperfect or irregular practice - just keep on keeping on, forgive yourself daily, and give at least a few minutes morning and night and now and then throughout the day to communing with Spirit…and your life will change).
Holy Grail Vortex Protocol - A simple and powerful scientific method of invoking toroidal energies and the spiritual reality of the Earth Motor to direct divine energy towards healing and the dispelling of darkness. My friends and spiritual brothers and sisters in the Temple of Sakkara Order have been quietly sharing this deep practice for several decades. It can be done hand in hand with several friends in the fresh air or alone in one’s room. When done in power spots such as Stonehenge and the Giza Plateau it apparently breaks through an elite control grid, as black helicopters and tinted-window SUVs almost invariably show up within half an hour to monitor this eruption of soul sovereignty. Not kidding. (A longer video from founder Mary Hardy may be seen here.)
Self-Realization Fellowship World-wide Prayer Circle - Join hundreds of monks and nuns and meditators around the world to pray for healing of body, mind, and soul, and for world peace.
The Seven Frequency-Raising Bullet Points - I came across this several years ago (author unknown), and it still serves as an excellent summary of the essentials of how to keep our frequency high and in a place of peace and joyful purpose:
FREQUENCY IS PARAMOUNT: SEVEN CHOICES THAT CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE:
Vibration in quantum physics means everything is energy. We are vibrating beings at certain frequencies. Every vibration is equivalent to a feeling, and in the world of "Vibrational," there are only two species of vibrations, positive and negative.
Any feeling which causes you to broadcast a vibration can be positive or negative:
𝟏st - * YOUR THOUGHTS *
Every thought emits a frequency to the universe, and this frequency goes back to its origin, so in the case if you have negative thoughts, discouragement, sadness, anger, or fear, all this comes back to you.
This is why it is so important that you take care of the quality of your thoughts and learn how to cultivate more positive thoughts.
2nd - * THE COMPANY YOU KEEP *
The people around you directly influence your vibration frequency. You will also enter this vibration if you surround yourself with happy, positive, and determined people.
Now, if you surround yourself with people complaining, gossiping and pessimist, be careful! Indeed, they can reduce your frequency and prevent you from using the law of attraction in your favor.
3rd - * THE MUSIC *
Music is compelling. If you only listen to music that talks about death, betrayal, sadness, and abandonment, all this will interfere with what you are feeling.
Pay attention to the lyrics of the music you listen to; it could reduce your vibration frequency. And Remember: you attract exactly what you think in your life.
𝟒th - *THE THINGS YOU LOOK AT*
When you look at programs dealing with misfortunes, death, betrayals, etc. (I would except here those great works of art which confront these realities in an ultimately uplifting way - the difference, say, between Goodfellas and King Lear), your brain accepts this as a reality and releases whole chemistry into your body, which affects your vibration frequency. Look at things that make you feel good and help you vibrate at a higher frequency.
𝟓th - * THE ATMOSPHERE *
Spending a lot of time in messy and dirty environments at home or at work will also affect your vibration frequency. Improve what surrounds you, and organize and clean your environment. Show the universe that you are fit to receive much more. Take care of what you already have!
𝟔th - * 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐃 *
It affects your vibration frequency if you indulge in gossip and criticism. To keep your frequency high, it is essential to eliminate the habit of complaining and speaking badly of others. To avoid drama and bullying - assume your responsibility for the choices of your life!
𝟕th - * 𝐆𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐓𝐔𝐃𝐄 *
Gratitude positively affects your vibration frequency. This is a habit you should integrate now into your life. Start to give thanks for everything, for the good things and what you consider evil, and for all you've experienced.
Gratitude opens the door for more blessings in your life.
That said, I am grateful for your kind attention, and for any material support you may choose to give this column on Substack.
Blessings and joy to you and yours,
Michael
